Q. Why should I use Ice and Water Armor protective underlayments?
A. To maximize the life of your roof, protection from ice dams and wind driven rain should be incorporated in your roofing system. This can be achieved by installing Ice and Water Armor directly underneath your roofing material.
Q. What type of roofing materials can Ice and Water Armor be used underneath?
A. SS 100 is excellent for tile and shingle roof applications. MS 300 is primarily designed for use under asphalt shingles. PS 200 is ideal for tile and metal roof applications.
Q. Are there other areas of the roof I should consider using Ice and Water Armor protective underlayments?
A. Yes, areas on the roof prone to water collection such as valleys, skylights, chimneys, vent stacks, dormers, low-slope sections and roof-to-wall intersections.
Q. Does Ice and Water Armor have a skid resistant surface?
A. SS 100 is coated with sand to provide skid resistance, MS 300 has a skid resistant mineral surface that is ideal for high sloped roofs and PS 200 has an industry-leading skid resistant smooth surface.
Q. Can an entire roof deck be covered with Ice And Water Armor?
A. Yes, but only when the roof system is properly ventilated, including both ridge and soffit venting.
Q. Will the product adhere to wet, dirty or dusty surfaces?
A. No, the roof deck must be clean, dry and free of dust, oil and grease. Use of a primer is recommended on concrete/masonry and fiberglass-faced gypsum surfaces.
Q. Does the ambient temperature at time of application matter?
A. Warmer conditions are ideal for good adhesion. Application should be made when ambient temperatures are 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. Product should be stored where the temperature is 50 degrees or above.
Q. How long can Ice and Water Armor be left exposed?
A. All installed product must be covered and not left exposed for more than 20-30 days.
Q. How thick is Ice and Water Armor?
A. SS 100 and MS 300 are approximately 60 mils thick. PS 200 is approximately 40 mils thick.
Q. What is the size and weight per roll?
A. SS 100 and MS 300 1 square product is a 100 square feet roll and weighs approximately 35 pounds and the 2 square product is a 200 square feet roll that weighs approximately 70 pounds. The PS 200 1 square product is a 100 square feet roll and weighs approximately 21 pounds. The 2 square product is a 200 square feet roll that weighs approximately 42 pounds.
