Tarco’s Self-Adhering, SBS-Based Membrane Excels as a Premium Underlayment for Metal Roofing

LeakBarrier PS-200 Ice and Water Armor Withstands Temperatures to 260 °F

Tarco announced today that a blend of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) and asphalt has been made into a premium underlayment for metal roofing.

LeakBarrier™ PS-200, a member of Tarco’s family of LeakBarrier Ice and Water Armor membranes, is an SBS-based membrane specially formulated to provide high-temperature stability to 260 degrees Fahrenheit, making it ideal for use as an underlayment in metal roofing applications.

PS-200 Ice and Water Armor is composed of a high tack, SBS-modified asphalt reinforced with a glass fiber mat. It has a smooth, skid-resistant, poly film on the top and a peelable, split-back release film on the bottom side for easy installation.

Other LeakBarrier membranes in the Ice and Water Armor product family are the SS 100 and MS 300 membranes. The SS 100 is coated with sand to provide a skid resistant surface for improved traction, making it excellent for tile and shingle roof applications; and the MS 300 is coated with a mineral surface to provide enhanced skid resistance for safe applications with all types of residential roofing systems.

Measured according to the ASTM D-5147 reference test, the compound stability of the PS-200 membranes is 260°F, which is approximately 35°F higher than the compound stability for SS-100 and MS 300 membranes. The high temperature stability of the PS-200 membrane makes it especially attractive for residential and commercial metal roofing applications. Besides metal roofing applications, PS-200 is also ideal for use below tile, slate and asphalt shingles.

Products are available in one and two square rolls. (One square rolls are 36 inches wide by 33.4 ft length and two square rolls are 36 inches wide by 66.8 ft length.) They are available from home centers, lumberyards and building materials dealers nationwide.

LeakBarrer Ice & Water Armor Products are warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects.
