LeakBarrier SBS Mineral Surface Cap Sheet

LeakBarrier SBS Mineral Surface Cap Sheet and SBS Base Sheet are premium quality rubberized asphalt membranes fortified with high strength polyester reinforcement.

  • SBS Mineral Surface Cap Sheet has a granular surface to protect against UV, weathering and physical damage.

  • SBS Base Sheet is lightly coated with a mineral release material on both the top and bottom sides. It may be easily applied by mechanically attaching to nailable decks, spot mopping to non-nailable decks, or solid mopping where appropriate.

Usage

LeakBarrier SBS Membrane Products are designed for use in new roofing and re-roofing installations utilizing hot mopping asphalt or cold process adhesives. SBS Mineral Surface Cap Sheet can be used for repairs of asphalt built-up membranes as well as a flashing material.

Storage

LeakBarrier SBS Mineral Surface Cap Sheet and SBS Base Sheets require protection from damage and the weather. Constantly store membranes upright in a dry location and never install when wet.

Application

  • All roofing materials must be kept clean and free of moisture prior to installation.

  • Warm weather conditions are ideal for good adhesion. Application should be made when ambient temperatures are 50°F or higher.

  • Deck must be clean, dry and free of voids.

  • Cut membrane sheets into manageable lengths before installation.

  • When installing in hot mop asphalt, asphalt should be 400°F (204.4°C) at point of application.

  • Install sheets overlapping a minimum of 3 inches on side laps and a minimum of 6 inches on end laps.
