LeakBarrier SBS MultiPurpose Underlayment is a unique and highly versatile glass fiber reinforced sheet sandwiched between two layers of a heavy coating of superior quality bituminous resins modified with synthetic resins. Due to its remarkable characteristics, SBS MultiPurpose Underlayment meets the physical requirements of the ASTM D-4869 four hour shower test.

Usage

LeakBarrier SBS MultiPurpose Underlayment is designed for use under composition shingles, shake applications, all types of tile, and metal roofing. It is especially suited for use as a base sheet/ply sheet in modified bitumen, asphalt built-up and cold process roofing systems.

Storage

LeakBarrier SBS MultiPurpose Underlayment requires protection from damage and the weather. Constantly store rolls upright, in a dry location and never install when wet.

Application

  • When covering the entire roof deck with MultiPurpose Underlayment, the roof system must include proper ventilation, including both ridge and soffit venting.

  • All roofing materials must be kept clean and free of moisture prior to installation.

  • Deck should be clean, dry and free of voids.

  • Slopes 2/12 to 3/12
    For composition roofs install two plies lapping a minimum of 2 inches on side laps and a minimum of 6 inches on end laps . Mechanically fasten to hold in place. For tile roofs see UBC 15 or Tile Manufacturers specifications.

  • Slopes 3/12 and greater
    Install one ply lapping a minimum of 2 inches on side laps and a minimum of 6 inches on end laps. Mechanically fasten to hold in place. Install two plies over valleys, hips and ridges.
